You are dead. A woman reads from you.

& this is how

by not abandoning this work, we don’t abandon each other.

Once upon a time, a turtle took several decades to cross the street,

to get itself up the side of the house,

through the back door, into the living room,

to stare at you and you were mortified.

How the fuck did this monstrosity of determination

make it in without me noticing?
